I had several of these years ago but can't seem to find them anymore. They were about a 1/2 oz. worm/bullet weight with a grove and a jig skirt on them.

Does anyone know what these are actually called and if it is a "standard" item somewhere?

Thanks!

I am a big fan of the Slither Rig but there is a less expensive option that is more versatile too.

Any of the punch skirts behind a tungsten weight works just as well. I like to use a rubber bobber stop on the line first, then the weight. This is where the versatility comes in. I use one between 3/8 to 3/4 oz depending on the water depth, wind speed, cover I'm fishing. Then I add the punch skirt.

Several companies make them in a TON of colors. Tie on your hook and you are in business! thumb

Yes. One of the best most killer rigs out there. Slither rig or combo like Ken said.

Slither rig is useless. They are good for practice when you have to cover water. When it's game day get rid of them and go back to a standard flipping jig. Slither rigs lose more fish that a good jig.

i could not disagree more. It's ok, they all catch fish. It's the user that matters most.

Jackson - They are commonly called punch rigs and are pretty easy to find. TW has a good variety of weights. I personally prefer to buy the weights and put my own skirts on. I like a somewhat thinner skirt than the ones that are pre-made. I use 1/2, 3/4 or 1 oz depending on how thick the cover is or how deep. My best setup is with a 4/0 straight shank worm hood and a zoom Z craw. I find it especially productive in flooded brush. Try a 1/2 oz watermelon colored weight with a shad colored skirt and a grin pumpkin flash Z craw. This past spring on Roberts, Lewisville and Texoma it was a very good baits in the flooded brush using a vertical presentation right in the middle of the brush. Either 20# flourocarbon or 30# braid (black) works well, with braid working better for me. BTW they usually hit it on the fall so be ready!

V&M makes a Slip N Jig which is a lead weight attached to a skirt. Much more cost efficient using lead instead of tungsten.
