I am looking to replace the Jon boat with a Pontoon boat. Went to bass pro shops today and looked at the party barges, I love the pontoon boat as a family boat with lots of room. I would really appreciate any advice on how to get the best deal and any advice. I have never purchased a boat. I would primarily use in Lake Travis, Granger, and Georgetown.

Having owned both a party and fishing model,I would buy the fishing model.
Get enough motor to pull a skier.
You might also consider a trolling motor.
Also get an anchor that will hold.

Thanks Bowfin. I like the seating on the party barge, wonder if they can do that kind of seating on the fishing model? Is it better to buy new or used?

If you could find one with 2 swivel seats for fishing up front and the remainder set up like a party toon would serve both.
I have had good luck with both being used.

X2, look around at the used market from now to about March you may find the deal of day, if you don't find one by then you will have a good idea on the one you will like.

If you are looking for new go to a boat show this winter.

If it was easy, everyone would do it
