Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Mike Scaonnie, a client of mine for the past 6 years, from Stuart, Florida arranged his annual fishing expedition with close friends from different parts of North America. Along for the adventure were Michael Yocom and Don Osteen also from Stuart, Florida, Mike Parrett from Ontario, Canada along with Bob Mobeck and Vin Giordano from Branford, Connecticut. The anglers boarded the boat and were welcomed by the Topshotfishing team.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. Our mission today was to fill up the dinner plate. We started off trolling with two #8 plainers down one with a 3 blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a pink and blue sea witch with a double hooked Bonito strip. For surface baits with went with three Ballyhoos and one Bonito strip.

As we trolled the reefs, all the anglers were telling fishing war stories from the past charters. Our first bite was on the plainer rod that produced a nice Kingfish. From there we trolled around while the anglers took turns bringing in their catches. Left long!!! Sailfish!!!! The Sailfish exited the water shaking his head erratically trying to dislodge the hook. Vin was our angler and hopped into the fighting chair to enjoy his first experience with a Sailfish. After a twenty-five minute battle, our mate, Dave wired the Sailfish for picture taking and was released to fight again. Great job, Vin!!! We reset and started trolling again. Five minutes later, Sailfish center rigger!!! Mike was our angler on this Sailfish and after a twenty-minute fight, pictures were taken and the Sailfish was released.

From there we targeted Snappers as we set up with multiple rods over one of the artificial wrecks sitting is 325 ft of water. With a total of two Sailfish, 6 Kingfish, 2 Barracudas and Snappers, it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock. At the dock, Dave fillet the anglers catches for tonights dinner.
