I want to start sharpening my used hooks and need some advise as I have never done this before. Can I use a knife sharpening stone or is there a better method?

Years, many years ago I always sharpened my hooks especially the larger single hooks such as worm hooks... Then came along the "newer" technology hooks. Chemically sharpened, lazer sharpened... and I never sharpened another hook again. I can only make them duller! :-)

I have been using some H2O, Gamakatsu and VMC hooks. Can these be sharpened?

H20 hooks are extremely sharp, but they have a tendency to bend the hookpoint over after a few fish/heavy cover. Just a fine metal file will do it. There are plenty of "just for hook" sharpeners available.

you can use a wet stone or hook file. Make sure you drag it the same number of times on each side. Example: (Drag 5 time on the left 5 times of the right then 5 times on the front) I usually don't try and sharpen it from the inside. Cause you can damage the barb, and that would ruin and good $3-$5 Jig
