So I went home from Somerville and notice the new Bucee's gas station there in Waller county had non entanol gas on them new pumps on the north end. I''m like hell yeah!! but the only set back is the octane is a little below the factory recommendation for my engine.( I think like 87 octane) What would you guys normally do. Use a higher octane ethanol gas with fuel treatment? Use low octane non ethanol gas and ignore the manufacturer recommendations ? I mean who would turn down non ethanol gas for their boat engine when it's readily available. I've always was told ethanol is the number one cause of boat engine problems. Is there octane in a bottle that I can buy to add and raise the octane ?

Second question is I guess prefront is always a good day to go fishing ? Would most you guys agreed ? Any way if y'all go fishing today can y'all please give me a hint if the bite was good or was OK or bad. I kinda used up all my vacation hous or else I would already be on the Lake today.

I also try to stay within the octane recommended by my manual, so I can't help you there. But, there is a website and app called Pure Gas that may be of interest to you. It locates gas stations which have gas without ethanol. Around DFW, it is slim pickings. Seems like there are tons around Fork. Go figure...

Higher octane burns cooler than 87. Which can cause bad carbon problems. I don't know which engine Merc has but it requires 91 octane. All other merc2 strokes require 87 because it burns hotter. Don't know anything else about four strokes or othe motors, Check the manual for recommended product smile

In my 4 stroke, I put the cheapest gas I can in it but I always run a fuel additive with it.

I have a 2010 2 stroke Yamaha 90, the dealer told me to use regular gas in it all I do is add fuel treatment. I have not had any problems with it I like to fish for sand bass so I run a lot. I try to get out at least twice a month I have not even had to replace the spark plugs. Hope this helps with your question.
