In your personal experience when do the crappie start to move into the creeks in North Texas in bigger numbers in the winter? I'm hoping this upcoming cold front will start pushing them in.

They are moving in as I type. This cold weather this weekend will really help. I caught around 20 scouting a creek on Tuesday. The fishing in the creeks should only get better as it gets colder.

I caught about 20 or so bass today, some sand bass, and one REALLY NICE crappie in the creek i scouted today. Now the creek i scouted today never has had much of a crappie population or migration, but over the years has suprised me from time to time with solid pockets of slab crappie. It is more of a black and spotted bass creek loaded with both, and good sized ones. But true to form, about 3 or so weeks ago it shocked me with a 17 inch hybrid striper and sandies in the 14-15 inch range. So never say never!!

Advice for catching winter crappie: I seen folks use minnows under a cork, but what else can I throw to catch them. Hard to judge what depth they are holding at tried using road runners but no luck

Try a jig and a bobber. I catch most of my fish this way. Start at one depth and try as many different depths as you need to till you start catching fish.
