 How can I read online maps at home?

I used to spend a lot of time going over paper maps of various lakes I fish. I'm sure there is a way to do it at home on my iPad. Can anyone explain what I need in order to do so?

sometimes navionics won't have smaller lakes or lakes with big motor restrictions.
caltopo.com can be very helpful in those circumstances.

+1 This is the most updated maps from Navionics, and the Webapp is updated regularly. Be sure to toggle the Sonar chart layer on in the bottom left corner to see the mapping at its full potential.
