Who listens to music while bass fishing? Do you feel it effects the bite at all? I always try to keep as quiet as possible, but been on many boats with the radio playing.

What is your experience?

if i am fishing deep water (typically summer) i will play some music, but if i am up in a shallow area i wont. I think the fish can sense it, giving them a heads up you are in the area. Not much different then a trolling motor ripping through the water IMO

This is no bull. A customer told me that when he plays Katy Perry loud it sometimes brings them up schooling. I swear it was a true story. She gets me schooling too so it must be common. At Falcon lake I had my hydrophone in 35' of water and could hear my radio like it was in the boat. After all I have seen, the biggest factor is getting the bait spooked that changes the mood of a bass for the better. Same as thumping up stipers. I think the radio is no harm. JMO

I have no scientific proof here, but I really see no difference between music at a low volume vs no music. I have caught my personal best three times over while listening to Country music this past year. Sometimes it was very shallow, but extremely windy, othertimes it was mid depth.

As for why I feel it makes no real difference? The lakes are loaded with boats that have music blasting from 3000watt stereo systems all day. I think the bass hear it and are aclimmated to it. I also think the bass are aclimated negatively to trolling motors and sonar clicks. The music might very well offset, or lessen the "warning" noises of TMs and sonars.

Just an opinion.

Fish are very used to it, especially shallow fish. Imagine home many nice bass come off of docks and boat houses and in the marinas? The places full of loud partying drunk people, and screaming children, adjacent to all the chaos of the ramp (another great spot for fishing..)

I have a lot of my best days with music going, and a lot of my worst days silently. I just listen on my phone though, and can put ear plugs in if I'm worried about the fish... But fishing clear fisheries and seeing bass not give a rats pitoot, I don't think it matters as much as many would have you believe.

We also through ungodly noisy lures to try and instigate a bite... So if my rattles don't tick her off enough to swat at my crankbait, maybe some Cash or Marty Robbins or something will? *shrug*

I've found that the Texoma fish really like that Mad Rock 102.5 radio station from Oklahoma. LOL.

Haha. They'd never suspect a thing. They'd think it was a ski boat with an ice chest full of beer pulling up.
