OK, for the next three weeks I will be in the "North Austin" area - I have a vehicle, and I will be mobile for lunch and dinner. Suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance for quality-themed suggestions.

Best . . . . .

The best Texmex in Austin is El Gallo is South Austin. The Frisco is in North Austin and it's the last thing of the Nighthawk diners. I lived in Austin for 15 years and those are two of the places that miss the most.

Amaya Taco Village on I 35 just south of 290. Food is very good, and you get a lot.

El Gallo's Last day is this Sunday..... Closing down after 60 years due to property tax bill increasing to $145K, from $25K 10 years ago. I plan on visiting tomorrow.

Enjoy the praline. I know I will miss El Gallo's Burro Compuesto, Carne Guisada and the El Gallo Dinner they were some of the best TexMex I have ever had. Austin is loosing another part of it heart and soul. It's sad that well established places like that are being priced out and replaced by soulless mass produced hipster joints that don't last 3 months. What's next Hill's or the Broken Spoke?

If you want great bbq, but don't have time for lines, Stiles Switch in North Austin is fantastic.
Biscuits and Groovy or any taco deli location for breakfast.
Via 313 for Detroit Style Pizza
On a Sunday morning the smoked brisket on a biscuit is fantastic at Freedmens downtown.
