Howdy guys! I am aware I am preaching to the choir on tying flies, in fact, I am not a very good fly tier at all, but felt there needed to be a video for the famous Redfish Crack Fly! It's a fly that I have yet to find in any stores and very little in regards to tying it, so here it is: https://youtu.be/uVQGSuyC5lEIf you have any comments, leave them here or on YouTube and by all means, if you like it, please hit the Like button and Subscribe! Tight lines.

It's funny that such a well known regional redfish pattern has so little on the Internet in tying videos. The only one I've seen besides yours is Scott Null's.
I've not done a weightless one like the one in your video. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you guys for the comments! Smurfs, I apologize for the music and voice out of balance; that's what mid range hearing loss can do for you, LOL. At 21, never thought much about M1 Abrams jet engines and shooting big bullets with no hearing protection would bother me later in life. Now it's messing up these videos! Karstopo, you know, that's why I decided to make this the first video; very little to nothing out there on the Redfish Crack fly. I probably should have spent some time talking about the versatility of the fly.....still learning this video stuff! Thanks again gentlemen! Tight lines.

Buck list trip for the both of us, can't wait!! Tight lines. He'll tell you to throw larger versions of what you throw on the Texas coast for reds, and heavier. Something that pushes a lot of water and gets down to their level quickly. Some redfish crack flies on a 2/0 or 3/0 SC-15 with medium or large lead eyes would work well. You'll enjoy fishing with Jeremy.

Hi Jim,
I had read something to that effect on Jeremy's website; figure we will have to use his gear, not sure how well Nick and I can throw big big bugs on our Professional II 8 and 9 weight rods. Have you fished with Jeremy??

Hi Jim,
I had read something to that effect on Jeremy's website; figure we will have to use his gear, not sure how well Nick and I can throw big big bugs on our Professional II 8 and 9 weight rods. Have you fished with Jeremy?? I have. I took my ProII 7 and 10 weights and my Clearwater 8 weight. I somehow broke the stripping guide on the ten on the way down there (no doubt those wonderful Louisiana highways that were trying to tear the fifth wheel hitch out of my truck played a part....) and used the eight. It was plenty of rod, at least for the flies I tied. I never looked in Jeremy's flybox. He does have some nice tackle though; I believe the rod he brought along was a Helios, and I noticed it wore a Mirage reel. Jeremy knows I can't afford charter trips, and a couple of Christmases ago he invited me on a buddy trip down in Cocodrie. I think he really just wanted to watch some of my famous self-taught casting, LOL. Anyway, the bride and I loaded up the RV and ran down there; as usual, I picked a lousy weather week to go. The magic morning he told me that if I had been a paying customer, he would have cancelled. It was windy, cloudy, foggy for a bit, and the water was roiled; sight fishing was not really feasible. And a harsh cold front was arriving. I had told him I wanted a 40 pounder (he had been catching them that big), and we tried. I got a 36 1/2 incher, lost another one to the oyster trolls, and blew my shot at the 40 pounder. I had just fired off a looooong blind cast when he saw it approaching the boat and told me to strip like the world was ending. She flushed from the boat before I could get the fly to her. We had to cut the day short due to the front's arrival, but we had a great dinner in the RV (with Jeremy as our guest) and we ended up stranded there for three days without water due to the hard freeze. Jeremy just made it out to a friend's house up the highway before they closed the roads. For such horrible conditions he did a stellar job. My wife used to brag about how great some of the people I fished with were, and Jeremy was always one of her favorites. And you had to be pretty special to earn her endorsement....... You guys will have a great trip with Jeremy. Tell him I said hi.
