Had a couple of descent days fishing Lake Dunlap. Picked up some nice eating size Crappie, Bluegill, and Redear. Fish are holding by docks and overhanging tree limbs in 8 to 12 feet of water. Used worms and jigs. Threw back a bunch and kept some for the dinner table to go with an ICE COLD MODELO! Catching a fresh fish dinner. It just don't get any better! fish

Side Note: Lake Level is down due to dam repair and maintenance. eeks

Hey Chuck...Hit Dunlap this morning, but the water levels was way down...barely had enough ramp to launch. Fished for maybe 30 minutes, and started worrying about the levels falling even lower, so pulled boat out and went home. My question is...is there any place (website etc) that tell you when they are drawing the levels down on Dunlap. I searched, but had no luck. The sad thing is that I was really catching some nice fish before panic set in....

Thanks Vogey for the reply. The GBRA usually has something on their web site. I have not seen anything on the lowering of the lake levels. I did see where they were slowing down the release on Canyon Lake. I got my information on the lowering of the lake levels from the locals who live on Dunlap. thumb

Thanks Vogey for the information. I met a person who's father is the President of that board. Interesting conversation. I have been having some good days on Dunlap these past several weeks. Sunfish bite and Crappie bite has been pretty good! thumb

Crappie and sunnies! Great combination. Nice fish Chuck! woot

Side Note: Due to the Lake Wood Dam in need of repairs that has really messed up the Crappie fishing in that part of the river. Going to be hitting the upper east side more this winter. GBRA is not going to fix the dam until late spring or summer! Have some pretty good brush piles marked on the east side. What is your take on this upcoming winter Crappie bite?

Thanks Curtis and PaPa@Fork for the replies! cheers Curtis: Crappie fishing will be hard to figure out this winter due to this latest rain fall. Strong currents and river flow both in September and now will wash out a lot of brush piles. Will have to hunt for them for sure this winter! Let me know how you guys do. East side fishing was good last winter! thumb

Side Note: Got a feeling the upper Guadalupe above Canyon will be good this winter! hmmm
