The Santone brand is good, War Eagle is good too, the Mouse Color War Eagle is good on Rayburn most of the time. I also like Stanley.
Thanks, Billy

Old Terminator's spinner baits, they were deadly. Hard to find now. Why are they hard to find? Did they change them up? Terminators are my second favorite behind War Eagle.

Some of my best catches were on the old Mann's, Terminator, Hilldebrandt, and Bulldog. I believe I my have had some by a company called Oldham. Wow, Bulldog spinnerbaits! Forgot about those. If I remember correctly, Clark Wendlandt might have been sponsored by them. Personally, I like the new Hank Parker spinnerbaits.

Nothing like an ate up spinnerbait. Unfortunately the spinnerbait in not as easily understood as say a crankbaits. Certain spinnerbaits can offer more vibration than others without it being visually noticeable. The Stanley patented wedge blade displaces more water than a standard willow. The tapered vibrashaft also plays a key roll in its success. The head also is a major part of the action. In previous mentioned spinnerbaits, some of the heads do not have a low center of weight. The competition's 3/8 spinnerbait sometimes will roll on its side at increased speeds. This head design allows it to run upright to deflect off stumps and objects rather than rolling on its side. The majority of the skirts are now hand tied. This results in a skirt that will pulse and flare when worked. Paired with a big mustad hook, you can even use meaty swimbaits as a trailer. Honestly everyone has their preference, but unlike a boat or truck we can afford to experiment with different brands. I hope someone finds this helpful.

Mr. YBarbo is right on target listing many of the things that big fish are looking for including the large Eye. Those subtle differences makes the difference in catch or not catching on a spinner bait day in and day out. Many days Bass are just on a good spinner bait bite and what you have will work; but on most day this is not the case. Equip your spinner bait with as many of these senses and your day will go much better on the catching end.

Yes sir Mr. Harper.
Lonnie Stanley taught me something about a spinnerbait. Majority of these stories go back to the mega bucks days and involve Nixon and Clunn. I was taught that fish will eat a spinnerbait 10months of the year. You just have to find the right one. Also if the fish are not eating it, you have the wrong bait. To this day I do not use trailer hooks. We are always looking for a "R-bend fish" this is when the fish eats the bait until the r-bend is at his top lip.

I run the Stanley Pro Trailer as a kicker on all my spinners and it provides that one more change that they are looking for. I was fortunate to get my hand on a couple of hundred packages years ago; but selling baits with all of them armed with the trailer has just about cleaned me out.
So many great spinners out there now with the extended shank hooks that no trailer hook is needed except on some of the OLD classics that I have many of.
I put Living Rubber skirts on all of my customs and have always used them because they will hold scent where silicone will not. I know many say it is a reaction bite and scent is not needed. We do not realize how many big fish follow baits right up to the boat and never take them. I credit a skirt with scent leaving a trail to sewing up the deal on these big fish that are trying to decide as they follow. I just want a bait that has all of those senses going for it because it evens the odds and will produce bigger stringers of Bass.

Great point. I believe in the new rubber skirts Lonnie uses except I do not like the live skirt colors for clear water. I believe the live and hand tied will trigger more of the fish that fallow the bait because of the action. . However, I always flutter my bait before it gets within sight. I have caught several over 7pounds doing this.

I like a LOT of the SB mentioned, but my FAVORITE is the old S.O.B. SB made by Ryan Coleman, after Bill Dee passed away. Heavier wire, but still has a LOT of action that the light wire SB have. http://www.spotsticker.com/Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck. Thad Rains

I am a big fan of the War Eagle Screaming Eagles, heavy but with a small profile. The Santones get lots of love, I need to give those a try.

I believe I my have had some by a company called Oldham. If you still have any of those Oldham spinnerbaits, I would be glad to take them off your hands.
Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

Donald Harper, please post some pics of your spinners. Curious about the skirts. Thx.
