Used to catch some there. Caught a nice 3 pounder at daylight one morning.

Wonder why TP&W does not stock them at Whitney any more?

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

Congrats, I haven't caught one of keeper size since the 90's and I fish there often. Golden algae is the reason they dont stock, haven't had an outbreak in awhile but its always a threat, TPWD dumped alot of money and smallmouth into to lake after the first few kills 16 or so years ago only to have later kills wipe most of them out, thats the popular belief at least.

Lake Belton has a decent population of smallies. Three stockings in the last 6 years.

Not many smallmouth left in whitney. Only a handful caught a year. They might start stocking again since there haven't been a kill in several years

I actually saw one 2 weeks ago out there... was fishing a top water on the south end, sucker came up and missed the bait about 5 ft from the boat, circled it twice and was gone. Might have gone 1.5 lbs at best but was no doubt a smallie.

I heard a story about a giant smallie straightening the hooks out on a rattletrap near white bluff.... This was a couple years ago.
