Which pond are you trying to fish? The south or north one?

The north north lake is my favorite. The vegetation is thick from late spring until deep winter. Healthy fish in there for sure. Most I have caught there in a 2 hour tour was 14 all under 2 pounds but I have had some 4s come from there and seen even larger fish. Frogs in spring is fun. T-rig lizards. I leave the pier area alone if its occupied. Lots of pressure along the dam so throw something the fish hasn't seen a lot of. Even a mepps rooster tail. I usually park by the recycling dumpsters and fish the dam from one end to the other. I have caught fish in 10" of water. Not sight fishing but you can see them parked on beds or by beds.

My experience is that the south side North Lake has bigger fish. You can park in the closed business parking lot vs the park parker areas. A little easier. That water drain thing will have a fish or two parked on it. I like that whole side of the dam from the trees to the water drain thing.

Either one. I haven't fished the one across from academy that much. Mostly the one by the baseball fields.

Those are private ponds, supposed to live in those neighborhoods to fish them.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

It is an honesty/respect thing, if you don't live there you shouldn't fish there if they ask you not to. I don't live in any of those neighborhoods but I do live close and run around and past many of those small ponds and most of them have signs. The parks are for sure public and South lakes(eureka) is designated as a neighborhood fishery and is stocked regularly.

It is my experience with all the growth in the Denton area, as soon as people find a new public pond, it is talked about on social media and very quickly becomes fished out. There are several that I used to fish but no longer do because of all the pressure, Northlake fits that description for me. On any nice day that stretch chickenman highlighted will be fished very hard many times over. Having said that, the fish are gun shy but there are still some to be caught and the grass and pads are green and healthy!

Good luck to you!

See you on the lake and have a great day!
