Hi guys, I'm new to TFF. A friend suggested I post for a little help.
First, I am a lady angler and I am doing a kayak bass fishing tournament this weekend on Lake Bastrop. I've never fished there, and didn't have an opportunity to pre-fish there.

I don't need anything top secret, but if anyone has suggestions on what to throw that works well out there I was be much obliged. We are camping on the north side of the lake and will be there this weekend.

Clear waters......downsize your baits and slow presentations.

Swim baits (small) on and along the eel grass will always land a few. Great thing bout Bastrop i is so small and open, there are no secrets; you can see exactly where and who they are biting even without binoculars.

Top water poppers, white spinnerbaits over the eel grass, flukes and rattle baits will all get your line tight. Don't forget to pitch your favorite jig or creature bait into the reeds in front of the N. shore ramp. Good starting point is the point straight across from the N.shore ramp, under the power lines, work that stretch south. Good luck and have fun!

Last weekend, we picked up 30+ mostly slots. SBs, small worms but they sure did like the Senks. They're in the grass. Temps were upper 70s to almost 80 which was up about 4 degrees from the week before.

What day is your tourney?

Welcome to TFF!

Bastrop is a fun lake! Spinnerbaits in the eel grass is a great way to put fish in the boat. I've also had luck pitching a light Tx rigged worm into the eel grass. The dam is a great place too and you can pick up fish on any crankbait. Pretty much the whole area around North Shore is a great place to fish. I also recommend a swim jig in the eel grass. Be sure to trim the skirt down on your spinnerbait and swim jig. It's great to see another lady enjoying bass fishing and moving the sport forward. Feel free to send me a PM about more info on Bastrop. Best of luck to you!

I have done very well out there with buzzbaits before the sun comes up, then switching to a bandit 100 series in blue and chrome fished over the grass

Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst
