I'm looking to get my first Frog Rod and was wondering what your suggestions would be. I was thinking something 7'3" to 7'6" MH with a Fast tip? Am I heading in the right direction in my thinking? Thanks

Yes you are on track. I use a Dobyns Champion 736. One of the best but there's many other great choices for less.

Yep dobyns 735 or 736 the 6 power rod is quite a big heavier and but can make casting the frog into tight spots a challenge because its so stiff. Might go with the 735 it will be more versatile.

Really depends on what type of frog fishing you plan on doing. If the budget allows, 3 frog setups are best.

7'4" extra heavy. You'll want a very strong rod when you start hooking fish in Lilly pads and thick matted junk. A medium heavy is like bringing toe nail clippers to a tank battle. And 65lb braid.

Edit: Oh.....and if you pick the correct rod, it is possible to get this kind of length and power in a COMBO that weighs less than 10ounces. Including the line and frog. There are a few choices of rods like this that weigh in the mid to low 4 oz range. Add the reel of choice from Lews, Diawa, or Shimano and you're done.

I have not found anything I enjoy using more than the Megabass Orochi XX Perfect Pitch rod for my hollow body frogs.

I use all Dobyns and have used the 736 but I prefer the 735 champion. Awesome jig rod too

I use a Dobyns Champion 705 and it works well for me. I had it before the 735 came out.
I have a Lews super duty 8-1 gear ratio reel spooled up with 65# braid.
