Who was it having trouble with catching non target species? He had a couple threads last week about bass fishing and caught a catfish and a drum?
Went out late afternoon to do a little kitty fishing. Used cut bait sunfish on the bottom and chicken breast on a Santee cooper rig and caught three LMB including one 22" - 5#14oz pig!
And not one catfish!

Largemouth or black bass.
Fun to catch but wasn't expecting it with those baits!

I caught a bass on a red sponge with stinkbait one time. That bass sure was moving it's mouth to get that hook out.

I have catched several 8 and 9 lbs large mouth bass out of the pier Tommar while catfishing with cut carp

Yeah, it's not beyond me to release bass into the grease but I did CPR that one. Anything over 5 pounds goes back in my book.
Don't know of any yellow cats here but I'm going to try live bait on one rod sometime and see what happens.

Two years ago I caught a 44" native grass carp on Conroe using chicken liver. Can you believe it? Omnivorous grass carp?

Never herd of a native grass carp, but I have caught carp on chicken liver.
Have also caught bass on cut bait.
