I was just wondering if you hook in to a trophy blue but you have no lip grips near by no net and your by yourself Can you grab the fish on the lower lip or would it clampdown and possibly break bones in your hands I was,just wondering in case I ever hook into one

I doubt it would break any bones, but if it clamps down and rolls it will effin hurt! It will also exfoliate your skin real nice. That's why Tom has hands like a newborn baby's behind.

They can dang well sprain your wrists and if coming fresh out of a live well can break it!!!

They certainly can hurt when they bite down, plus they can take the skin off the top of your thumb.

Grippers are great till you have to stick your hand inside to remove the hook or if the burp pipe doesn't work and you have to stick your hand past the gullet to relieve the air!!!

I offered to take a friend fishing after telling him what a big old blue could do to his hands. He said he would bring a pair of gloves. I told him there would be no gloves on my boat or next thing he would be wanting me to take him back to the restroom to [censored]. I didn't tell him I had a couple of Team Catfish grippers.

I keep a pair of mechanics gloves on my boat, a set of grippers, and a large landing net when chasing big blues. Net to get them in the boat, grippers for handling and pics, and gloves for hook removal.

Caught a 57 pounder a few years back that had three hooks in his mouth other than the one that brought him to the boat. Be careful about blindly sticking your hand in a bib blue's mouth.

I was running trotlines on Lake Ivie. Had a 42 pound yellow hooked through about a 1/4 inch of skin in the top of his head. I grabbed his lower jaw and jerked him in all in one motion. I knew he would be too stout for me if I didn't get him out of the water quickly.
My hand was ok but I had to see a chiropractor for my shoulder. Lol Net stays in the boat now!

If they (50 LB PLUS FISH) can jerk a 200 lb man from a jon boat on a trot line, then no problem breaking some bones.
