Checking my boat over today for a trip, checking air in the tires and I noticed grease on one of my wheels, so I ran my finger around the Vortex hub and sure enough grease was coming out, then I reached up to see if it was tight and it fell off in my hand, the threaded part separated from the hub cap, so I check the rest of them and another one just fell off when I touched it. The threaded portion that screws into the hub is breaking off from the hub cap, so if you have these on your trailer you might want to check, anyone had this happen?

I have had one that the threads were messed up and would never thread on and screw on tight so it threw grease on the wheel. I ordered new cap and it's been fine. I also ordered an extra to keep in boat.

I guess thats what my Phoneix has too, if not I need to figure out which one I have. I need to understand how they work, what part is what etc. Also how do you put grease back in them and what kind.

Thanks, Billy

Phoenix has vault hub covers and they suck. ( not Phoenix fault) but once you take a cover off you need a new one. They are one time use. I have lost 3 of them on same axle last 2 months. You have to loctite them in and let them dry for about 30 minutes before you put it on. They take hybrid grease 16$ a tube the hub covers are 20$ each.
