I just bought a Shakespeare gx2 ugly stick spinning reel for bass fishing but was wondering if i used it for catfish would it increase my hookup rates since the rod is smaller than the medium heavy rods I usually use I have ten lb Berkeley trilene xl on the ugly stick gx2 reel and was wondering if that would be big enough or should I just stick with the med heavy rods and the big reels with 25 lb test on them. I mainly use punch bait for catfish so I mostly catch eater sized blue catfish and channels when i am catfish fishing

I have a bundle of rods with broken tips. I have never broke an Uglystick. Still have the first one I got. Its around 30 years old.

I really like the tips of the Ugly Stick. Very sensitive to soft bites. Plus enough back bone to land a nice size cat. Ugly Sticks are all I own. Heavy down to ultra-lites.
