I've never fished or been to this lake.. Is it pretty easy to run? good fish in it? Any tips would be appreciated!

I learned a little bit about the lake a few weeks ago. Caught the biggest bass I've ever caught. But, since then, the lake and information gathering on it has been prohibited since there is a championship tourney there this weekend.

Haha

Ask me about the spots I found next Saturday night.

My question is why with all the great bass lakes in Texas do you guys come to little Lake Waco for your tournaments. Last weekend there was over 100 boats in the South 40 Shoot Out alone. I do not think in the past two years that I have not gone out and not run into someone who is pre fishing or is in a tournament. I could understand this if it was Fork or Big Sam but not Waco. I wonder what would be said if every bass club in the great state of TX. went to Ray Bob for a few years in a row. FYI there is only two ramps open on the now, Midway and Speegleville. You can use Koehne Park and Flat Rock are open but I do not use them because I do want my truck broken into or worse.

Because it often bass fishes better than any other lake within 100 miles, I know several other lakes much better than waco but always seem to catch more and bigger fish on waco the few times I go there instead. Only reason that keeps me off that lake is it can get very busy, just don't care for the traffic it gets.

Because we just want to come catch all your fish Harvey....I guess.

I lived in Waco for many years....went to Richfield and graduated from Baylor. 10 years of living in that backwards [censored] town has earned me the right to fish little lake Waco.....at least three times. Right?

The fishing is going to be tough out there with all the water its caught this week. The rivers leading into it looked like chocolate milk and it doesn't take much to muddy up that entire lake.

I can understand coming back to fish an old home lake ( I would love to go back to Louisiana and fish my old lake) but not bring a bass club with me every time I do.

I know that the South Bosque river was flooded last night, I sure that the south end is muddy up.

Nice little big lake , part of the Lake Stillhouse , Lake Belton and Lake Limestone area . Lots of good bass clubs , many good active / retired military bass fisherman from Ft Hood . Stays very crowded during weekends gets a lot of pressure .

I lived in Waco for 5 yrs, and fished the lake 2 or 3 times a week at least. It was and still is one of the best kept secrets in Texas. When I lived there I fished the Wed. night tournaments. This was a team tournament weigh in 3 fish. It took over 15lb just to get a check. I have seen nights were a 15lb stringer was 8 or 9 place. The record top stringer for this tournament was 3 fish that weighed over 25lb. He had 2- 10lbers and 1 right at 5lb. And he fished by himself. When I lived there I agree there were probably too many tournaments, but the bass tournaments didn't hurt the lake as much as locals keeping bass to eat. Many Crappie fishermen who catch a 12 -13 incher and in the box it went. I couldn't count how many times I saw this happen.

But to the original post. The lake is fairly easy to run until you get to the lower bosque and Hog creek areas. You have to know where the boat lane is and with the lake over 2 ft high I would slow down and idle in these areas.

8 to 10 years ago Waco was one of the best lakes in Texas. It's a far cry from that now. When Chuck had the 3 for 25 the lake had hydrilla in it. That is long gone and a lot of the timber has rotted away. It still has its moments from time tobtime.
