You gonna fall in love with that lake! The fishing doesn't get any better than Lake Whitney! Once you fish it, you will wish you were there every weekend...

It has ruined fishing our local lakes for me. None of them compare to the sights and fishing of Lake Whitney!

I have launched at the following ramps before sunup:

Harbor Master Marina - Several guides run out of this Marina
Uncle Gus
State Park (not sure if the boat ramp has opened since the flood)
Cliffview Resort

Thanks!! Big D

But I still think Arkansas tops most lake in Tx thou. Where else can you catch hybrids all day at every single location you stopped. Any lake in Texas ? And the wierdest thing is they'll take a slab jigged like it's summer on days temps is below 32 degrees. No plastics needed up there. Already planning a return this winter.

East end of the dam...Lofers Bend is a public ramp that's close to the action right now...just across from the island. The State Park ramp is still closed. Cliffview Resort or Uncle Gus' if you're going to stay overnight...good folks with reasonable room rates and a nice covered docks.

Launched from Lofers Bend yesterday. The only issue there is that a lot of lose gravel has accumulated at the waters edge. We had a little issue with a two wheel drive truck getting the boat out. If you have 4 wheel drive probably not a problem.

Thanks to all that replied. Me and my son are very excited to visit new lakes. We will put in a live report if we have internet on the phone. If all goes well after Whitney I will hit Lake Fort Phantom then another lake hopefully. If all does not go well. I'm proably sitting in a mechanic shop some where in la la land.

I am the Striper King.

Hey brandon, good to see you back. Hey can you tell that story again when you cussed out the wrong people on the boat ramp. I'm still laughing about that.

I like to launch at Mc Cowan Valley Park, in the middle of the lake so I can go either direction. Great facilities.

Personal best :
Freshwater Red - 26.11lb.
Striper - 15lb.
Black- 7lb.

Where is a nice place to stay at whitney that is not expensive and safe for boats

The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

I was thinking about running to Lake Whitney this week to celebrate the Marine Corps birthday and Veterans Day. Looking for any advice on what to use and a general area to fish for whites and stripes. I have been to Whitney once about 20 years ago.
