Navionics has two levels of maps.

Nautical Charts is Navionics data.

Sonar Charts is contour mapping created from unit user sonar logs.

The new Navionics+ Regional is available in REGIONS like Hotmaps Platinum and the discontinued Hotmaps Premium. They have both map layers preloaded.

As with every Navionics product, it includes a year of Freshest Data Updates.

Bottom line is the map for a particular location is the exact same one for every card version if updated the same day and is the same map that can be viewed on the Navionics website's Web App. It is also available with the mobile app for Android and iOS devices.

If you have any Navionics+ version, you have the exact same maps IF you update the card. PLUS you have a better version that is not regional specific.

What card are you referring to as the old one? If talking a Navionics premium, then the answer is yes, it is leaps and bounds better due to the fact the regions card offers the sonar charts layer and also has saltwater too. It is the same mapping as the Platinum without google overlay and 3d, but has the same setups as far as regional. IF you have the Navionics Nav+ card, as Wayne stated above, it is the same mapping as long as you have continued to update the card.

I know this is a little off the subject, but since the topic is Navionics, I thought I'd bring up a problem I'm having.
Bought a Humminbird Helix 9 about 10 months ago and purchased a HotMaps Premium South card to go with it. Registered the card and created a Navionics account.
Have never been able to use the Freshest Data updates. When I try, I get a message saying that "Freshest Data has expired".
Received an email from Navionics about a week ago saying that the Freshest Data updates would expire in 2 months. This reminded me to try again....same result. Called Navionics, but the automated system just hangs up on me. Tried the Chat feature on the website, but is "currently unavailable".
Any suggestions on how to reach them or how to get my card updated would be appreciated.
