If choosing between these two for a general purpose casting rod, which one would you buy?
7' MH Abu Garcia Veritas 7' MH Ducket Ghost

The Abu based solely on cosmetic reasons. I have zero experience with either.

Never used the Ducket. All my rods are Abu Garcias. I've been using the Veritas for a year or two and have no complaints with them and I'm not real easy on my rods.

I have a Veritas with a BPS pro qualifier on it and it didn't feel right. Worse that the vendetta I have but I couldn't explain why. Someone on here pegged it and said it's tip heavy. Those are the exact the words I was looking for.

I second the Falcon at that price range. The Veritas line feels heavy and stiff. I have both and prefer the Falcon.

i dont know what these people are talking about with breaking ducketts, ive had 2 for over three years and have caught a ton of fish on them and i boat toss almost every fish. ive caught 6's, 7's, and 8's on them and they do fine. ive tossed multiple 4's and 5's on 12lb fluoro and havent had the first problem. i have 7 of them and really enjoy them.

Up until last week, a Duckett ghost was the only rod I had ever broken. I did it one 2lb fish on lake Palestine. It broke about 16-18" above the reel. Good thing is academy exchanged it no problem. Coach

Not a Veritas but had a Vendetta snap on me last weekend with a 2.5 lb'er at local pond. Not sure how/why as I hadn't been horribly hard on it and wasn't trying to swing the fish up or anything. I will say the fish was pretty ticked as he had just demolished a frog I had on but I wasn't very happy at losing a rod.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad someone mentioned the tip heavy feel of the Veritas. I have picked one up in a store a few times, without a reel on it, and it didn't feel right. Didn't know if it was a little heavy or what. The reason I listed these two rods was because I can get them at a near-by Academy store. I hate to order rods because it isn't easy to return one if there is a problem.
The Ghost rod has a good, light feel to me, so I may try one. If it breaks, Academy will probably exchange it as coachman mentioned. My other option would be to order a Bucoo from Cabels's. They have a store little under an hour from me where I could return it if necessary. I have heard good things about Falcon's Bucoo rods, in addition to those above. Decisions, decisions!!! Anyway, good to get your thoughts.

They all break. I've broken a Bucoo and a Duckett. I've had a Veritas that I've used for four years now that's been a really solid rod. But I will break it eventually. I always do.

Save and get the vendetta for a general purpose rod. The heritage frog rod and cranking rods are better but the lighter rods vendetta seems better to me. My vendetta 7mh is my most used rod despite most being veritas, and its been beat to hell, dragged to the bottom of lake lewisville, and fished back out and has been going strong some 4 years. I've been through at least 3 veritas cranking rods in the same time for various reasons mostly not the rods fault, but the vendetta has endured as much or much more, along with the promax reel on it that is more neglected and abused than anything I own yes still performs flawlessly.
