So each time I visit my friends in Corpus, I pass over the Nueces and have been thinking up ways to go down it. Here's what I'm looking into.

Put in at the bridge on highway 666. This link should take you there. Linky Then take out at the mouth. It would be easy to be picked up just to the right after you enter Nueces Bay.

What does that look like about 5 to 7 hour float depending on flow rate? Has anyone been down this section? See many gators?

Thanks!

Also does anyone know a way to measure the distance traveled from waypoints? That would be very helpful now and in the future!

If you are talking about Hwy 666 to the mouth of the river at Nueces Bay, that's at least 40 miles by water. Better plan on a few days if you want to fish any.

I'm sure the gators are still moving around, as the temps are still in the 70's at night and in the 80's during the day.

I'm not sure that's 40 miles but probably longer than I thought. There is another spot to put in but it shortens the trip a lot. Thanks for input.

Get on Google Earth and you can measure distance that way from your put in to take out.

From your put in to the low water dam at Labonte Park is just under 17.5 Miles, easily two full days on the water if you want to fish. Then it's an additional 13.5 miles to the take out point just past the mouth of the river along the Joe Fulton Corridor.
