One data point does not a trend make. That said, that's one more than we've had in a very very long time! Great fish!

The bigger (no pun intended)question, is how much will that bass weigh in a couple of months? If she gains 10% of her body weight in eggs and packs on a pound or two over the winter and has something good to eat for breakfast you could be flirting with the record...

Those hula grubs are some good baits for sure... I do like them for pressured waters by themselves or as jig trailers...

I live about 40 miles from Lake Chabot , it is not a lake known for bass fishing in any way at all . It is a lake that is still stocked with trout from the department of fish and wildlife . They don't usually start stocking the trout until winter time , I am certain if this fish was caught in Feb/Mar , it would most likely weigh 1 to 3 lbs more . More proof that bass in lakes stocked with trout seem to grow to extreme sizes.

Not to be Debbie-Downer but I do not believe that fish is even close to 19 pounds. The second pic of the fish's belly tells the tale. It is an awesome fish, don't get me wrong. It just doesn't have the girth to weigh 19 pounds IMO.

I'm sure it was weighed on a certified scale for the lake record. I know when I lived in so cal the lakes all had certified scales. It does have a odd shaped head on it almost looks like a northern bass.
