How long can you keep fresh caught crappie filets in the refrigerator before having to freeze them?
Also, what is the best way to freeze crappie filets?

I sometimes keep mine for up to 4 days in the fridge. To freeze them I put enough for a meal in a Ziplok bag, fill it up with enough water to cover the fillets, squeeze the air out and put them in the freezer. I keep them for up to 8-10 months like that and they never come out freezer-burned or dried out because the water seals them.

I have kept crappie and other species of fish for several days in a pan of water with ice cubes in it. This also serves to help get all the blood out of the fillets. No reason why it would not work in a zip lock bag too.
