I mentioned to Sherri Sunday evening, we ought to look for a 2 lb crappie so you can get past that 1.98 you caught at LOP. She said, I'll go with you since you look like you need some help. roflmao
So we headed out Monday morning in no big hurry since she likes to sleep late. bang
Stopped to get some minnows and the man opens the door as I get there and says we're out of minnows.
Oh well, we'll just catch 'em on jigs. I know you're proud of me tbox.
Got on the water about 3:30 and headed to some close by brush piles. First pile, four 11 inchers smack the jig. This looks good. Then nada. Hit a few more piles with minimal success and headed back to the ramp at 6.

Weather for Tues was supposed to be light winds, but you know how the weather man likes to play tricks with the wind forecast.
Checked Weatherbug for Tues morning, and now I'm looking at 8-12 mph by 10:30. We'll see what we can find early and then head for cover if we have to.

Started out on some timber in 20 FOW. Slow with a couple near 1.5 and then I stuck this 2.0

I put part of the spider rigggin seat up front so Sherri can sit down beside me. Makes fishing so much easier for her and we can both fish the same spot easily.
A few more spots and she sticks this 2.05. clap clap

Now she's past that 2 lb mark. This is looking much better already.
Wind gets up more and take a few waves over the front and I decide it's time to head to calmer waters. Make a major move.
Much calmer here so we can enjoy the fishing. Start looking around and find one here and one there. Then I get a solid set and say this is a good fish. Up comes a 2.24

Wind blows us off that spot by the time I weigh the fish and take pics. So we fish another spot close by and them move back to that spot where the 2.24 came from. Drop jig and thump, another good fish. Up comes this 2.02

Ended the day at 1:30 with about 30 total. All released for another day. Had a 1.85, 1.76 and 1.53 to go with the 2 pounders.

Went back out Wed morning and had to work hard for 12 keepers by 11:15. No big fish, biggest was about 1.5.

Baits of choice were blue razor Slab Bandit, the black emerald shinner and a hand tied shad imitation from Jiggin Jerry. Fish were holding near the bottom even with the cloud cover early. Much the same as tbox found. I thought fish would be about 10-12 ft early especially since it was cloudy. I had dropped the jig to 16 ft but nothing. Fished the first few spots before I decided to drop the jig down to 18 ft. As soon as I did, thump. Went back to a couple spots we fished early and picked up two fish that we missed cause we weren't deep enough. So lesson learned, check out the full water column this time of year before you think there's no fish here.
