I'm looking for about a 12 ft johnboat, semi-v or a 2 man bass buster for a small private pond. I have a canoe, but I need something that the grandkids or company can use. Don't need motor or trailer, a barebones fishing platform will work. Thanks and tight lines.

My advise/opinion is to go with a Bass Buster type boat if it is a pontoon type. The small aluminum type john boats tend to be unstable. Kids are wanting to stand up and move around, can't really do that too safely with john boats. It's easy to lose you balance in them unless your sitting all the time. The bass buster type are more difficult to paddle though. A cheap trolling motor will fix that.

+1 on the pontoon boat. I have a Pond Prowler, and I love it! Very stable platform, and would fit your needs perfectly.
I also have a Minn Kota 30# tm for sale if you're interested.

I have a 2015 pelican 10E I'd sell for $450, for $200 more I'd throw in a battery and a minnkota 50lb trolling motor. This was all bought new at academy summer of 2015 and has been used less than 10 times.

Check these out before you buy. Go to www.onefrogtwo.com the other links below are not active because the company can now ship direct to your door. I have used them for the past 10+ years and they are AWESOME! Enjoy!

I built stabilizer for my canoes and the Grandkids can use the canoes that way.

Thanks.
I've seen canoes with stabilizers, haven't thought of that. Might look into it.

roadtrip - maybe look at a - Porta-Bote - basically a rowboat w/ motor mount. Holds up well to weather since it is made of the same stuff as Kayak's (just a lot thicker).
If for some reason you want to use it somewhere else/camping whatever - folds up and easy to port around.

After owning one I suggest a pelican bass raider or the like. The one worry we always have on the water is sinking... These just don't sink if weight limits aren't over done much.
If the fish don't bite your not baiting right...
