or a Woolly Gibbons? a ZZ Booger? Need help with the name. I used to fish for trout and understand size color appearance etc but now I am discovering Salt Water. I read that Clouser's, Deceiver's and Half / Half flies are a style and open to all manner of color choices and configuration. Based on that I decided to improve the basic Woolly Bugger (my apologies Mr WoollyBugger)... Why not add eyes and a red beard? Have fun. Thus the reference to Billy Gibbons and ZZ Top. Perhaps I should practice a bit more before sharing but I am not sure the fish care. Got carried away and a variation on a white bugger and a more traditional Clouser

Looking good. I like messing with patterns. I've tied woolly buggers before and thought they would probably do great in the salt without much of any changes except sizing them up a bit and Maybe adding a weed guard. But I've never tested this.
I like working with marabou. I did some shrimp basically using one marabou feather, but I never fish them. Maybe you will do better than me and actually fish what you have created.
I'm terrible at naming my take offs on patterns. I like the Billy Gibbons name.
Hard to go wrong with clousers. Seems like everything gobbles them up. I can't remember the last time I fished or tied one. If you are like me, you tie way more flies than you will ever hope to fish.
Good luck with your creations. I'd love to see a photo of one sticking out of a fish's jaw.

Thanks Karstopo.. You know the old adage that you can not be too rich or too thin etc.. I do not believe that you can have too many flies (well, maybe, you have to try them at different times on different days etc and if you have one that works, you can't have just one or you will lose it.. or least worry about it.
If people use deceivers and Clouser's for bass, why not bring a Woolly Bugger to the salt? Maybe some of the "improvements" would work for bass as well. And perhaps anything tied in black might should be tied in white as well and visa versa for sunny vs cloudy or day vs night.

I think you might have a little challenge getting the second fly - tied on a heavier hook, using rattle eyes (very lightweight) running hook up? If I have a heavy duty fly that does not run hook up, it goes into the recycle bin. Rattle eyes are misunderestimated though!
