My wife and I are looking to get away for a few days in November, and I'd love to camp by a river and do some fishing. I'm about done with Beaver's Bend, and wouldn't mind venturing to the Hill Country. Anybody have a recommendation? I'm looking to avoid some crowds if possible and also hunt down some bass with on the fly.

The Guadalupe River is great this time of year. Also if you wait until December you can get into the trout stockings. From the Canyon Trail Race all the way to Huaco Springs there are good camp sites with easy river accesses.

Guadalupe River is a great choice as Banker mentioned, wide range of camping options from primitive all the way to luxury.
I love Perdanales Falls State Park, an hour outside of Austin, great fishing, and if it ever cools down you will be the only ones out there.
The recent threads about the Paluxy and Dinosaur Valley State Park have me itching to go there, if nothing else just to see a dinosaur footprint in the river bed for myself.

Castell is a nice place on the llano. It may have camping spots. I know they have cabins. There's good food around that area also. Hope you guys have a good trip!

What campgrounds would y'all recommend on the Guadalupe near New Braunfels/Gruene?

Thanks for the suggestions to the OP.
My family is in a similar situation, though we'd be bringing kiddos too. Hoping to sell my conventional tackle and buy a Youth Fly set-up I recently saw for sale.

Thanks! Where does everyone park to fish? I was thinking Action Angler might be a good place to park but I don't know if they allow that.

Action Angler is good, they charge $5 for parking & river access I believe. Most of the campgrounds allow river access with a day use fee.

Seems like everyone is planning winter trips this year! When is everyone heading over there? Me and a few buddies are going down on December 9th and staying all weekend.
