I have heard a lot about how much better garmins mapping detail and accuracy is than the rest. I have been a lowrance/navionics guy but their mapping is not accurate and does'nt appear to be getting any better. For any of you out there that have experienced both and lend your experience i would appreciate it.

I haven't seen the units and mapping for Toledo Bend BUT I have seen the 2 units operate side-by-side on other lakes. The Lowrance/Navionics/ & also the Legend Map is Good BUT BUT BUT the Garmin is by far the more detailed and better mapping and screen definition. I even was considering to Purchase a Garmin for my boat primarily due to the high definition detail. If they were not displayed side by side I would not make those comments since it would be hard to compare or remember or notice the details. Since these were on the Lowrance HDS-12 and the Garmin 7612 I would say they were a fair comparison. Don't misunderstand, the Lowrance is a very very good product and map. BUT you asked for a comparison of the maps and details. We did see items on the Garmin that the Navionics & Legend did not have. (Legend does have the Google Map overlay of the low water conditions though.) Most of us do not have the rescources to operate 3 Big Units on the Back so I would select the Garmin if I only had one to choose.

I have had all 3 and on some lakes the mapping is better with garmin and I believe TB is a HD lake so the mapping would be great. I also bought Hot spots for garmin and it shows even more detail. I will not go to the others. I love my garmin.

If you purchase LakeVU HD Ultra chip, Hot Spots are included.

Seems pretty legit. Wonder if it would be worth getting a cheaper small garmin just for mapping I have humminbirds with lake master chips but having multiple mapping options could really be useful.
