You want a boat guy to shoot gel coat. ONLY
There is no automotive clear that will last more than a year, so don't fall for that trap.

Is the gelcoat coming off, the fiberglass showing through or just looking dull and faded. If its just dull and faded a good wet sanding and polish could make it look like new.

It`s just as you said! DULL and not shiny as it once was.The boat used to be real slick when you ran your hand across it but now when you run your hand over it not slick any more.It feels a little rough.

I would start out on a small area with some polishing compound and see how it goes. If you have a buffer and a light touch give it a shot. FYI, gelcoat is a lot softer than you might think. Lots of you tube videos on the subject.
Or you could just pay somebody to do it.

Then just take it to someone. They'll get it shined back up like new

classic fiberglass will do a good job at a fair price they are in denton.

I know they say don't shoot auto clear on but I've done 2 different boats and havnt had a problem. My personal boat has been done for 3 years now
