I'm taking my stepdad to Toledo next week for a couple of days. I've never been, and just curious if anyone can point me in the right direction of a current pattern--Not asking for secret spots or techniques, just something to get started, and maybe put my stepdad on a few fish. We're staying on the South Side of Housen, so we probably won't venture too far up or down the lake since we're only there for a couple of days.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've only been twice, but both times was with a guide. It was a good way to learn the lake a little and get a better feel on what to look for. Both times was all about good electronics and finding them stacked up on ledges. I'm headed there for a week in a couple weeks to give it a try in my boat for the first time. Good luck to you.

Wish I was going, my favorite lake in Texas. Have fun and hope the weather is good. Housen Bay will have all the fish you can catch.

I was their a week ago during the cold front. Texas side was tuff, but we did manager some nice fish. For numbers the Louisiana side was where the action was. Look for cypress trees with roots. Catch one and you'll catch 4. Early morning & late evening Got 5 spinner bait was the ticket. Good luck. thumb

Went there Friday and Saturday and tuff is an under statement for how we did. I don't fish there but maybe once every year or two. Maybe we should have tried the LA side

IF the wind will let you fish the flats off of the north bank at the mouth of Housen. THis is called the community hole. IF the wind gets up go up- go up Housen creek to where the boat land runs into the bank and turns right. Started fishing to the left. There are lily pads in this area with some hydrilla. Work the edges with a Blue back herring spinnerbait, a white/ pearl fluke or a Yellow magic in a shad color. Around 9am look for schooling action just off of the boat lane on the south side off of the points.

Another good area is Indian mounds. Follow the boat lane north from the mouth of housen and it will be the big bay off to the left. There are many feeder creeks, humps and grass to fish in this area. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Do not be to intimidated by the size of Toledo! Pick a good creek and stick with fishing it most of the day. Every creek on toledo has fish just have to figure out how to catch them
