The fishing has been fantastic at Medina Lake since she filled up. TP&W stocked the lake in June 2015 and the with all the forage, spawn and new water the bass are thriving. Lots of undersized bass now in the 12-13" range with some more legal size and the occasional 3-4 lber and they are feeding up for the fall, chasing square bills, top waters and plastics. Many are running in wolf packs in groups of 8-9 back to the boat after the one that is already hooked. Have had several 40-50 bass days and that is just till noon !

Also, over 10,000 signatures have been obtained from those that would like to not see the lake drained again. Thank you to our local news station for the coverage. If anyone wants to sign the petition and or attend the meeting it will be at the BMA Office, 2401 Hwy 132 in Natalia, Texas(just south of San Antonio) on Monday Oct 10th at 5pm, and you can bet I will be there!

What boat ramps are open to launch a bass boat?

Thank you for answering his question. For now these ramps are open, but with the water gushing out of the two open valves who knows as the lake level continues to fall frown

10/15/16 (2 hour report):

A few blow ups this morning on top waters, and the blade bite is picking up! Afternoon bite will be better with the full moon in the sky.

Update on Mondays 10/10/16 meeting in Natalia:

The board refused to acknowledge the 10,000 + signatures from those that signed the petition, as the lake continues to fall. TP&W stocked the lake with 200,000 baby bass fingerlings June 2015 and they are growing and thriving, but they won't with falling water.

TPWD has nothing to do with what happens to water releases.

Got a chance to get out to Medina on Saturday morning. I caught a few nice fish throwing a plastic worm. The biggest one I caught was just under 2lbs. Most fish I caught seemed to be in the 17-20' depth.

It has been around 3 weeks since I was out there last time. I swear the water is down 3-4 foot which is crazy.

Just came back from fishing Medina for a couple of days.. Fished Wednesday afternoon and Thursday till about two thirty.

Water temperature seventy four degrees. Visibility down to eight feet in some areas.. In a word.. Awesome..

Lake 2.2 feet low.

We caught fish everywhere we stopped. Did not fish up-lake past Sawmill. Sawmill was full of eight to ten inch fish.

Haby's was good on steep sloped banks.. Not bluffs.. Chunk rock was good no matter where we were.

Yesterday we fished more back in Elm Creek and we found bigger fish there. We probably caught a hundred and twenty or forty fish in a day and a half.. Only three over fourteen inches. Tons of twelve to thirteens.

Lots of these fish were pretty shallow, eight feet or so. Points were the deal, and points with bushes and drops on the end were really good. Boat dock shade where there is about a 45 degree angle to the bank is also a great pattern..

Humps with bushes on them are also holding fish.

Take some 3/0 hooks, some 1/8 tungsten weights, and some Zoom trick worms in W/M Red..
You can thank me later..

There was a video on this site a few months ago that showed some skinny looking fish.. All the fish we caught were good looking and some real butterballs. And mean as hell!

PAW shocked the lake last week and excellent numbers were reported, and the fish were well within the healthy range.. In a word, they really look good..

I know there are not a lot of big fish in there, but fun fishing it certainly is.. Sometimes we take catching big fish too seriously and forget the fun of just catching fish..

Take your kids up there and they'll be talking about it for years..

P.S. We saw four boats on the lake in the two outings..

My bites have been coming on a TX Rigged Rage Craw in 18 ft, unbelievable how many fish and good ones I caught the last two days. Fishing is GREAT right now, let me know if anyone would like to join me.
