Spent yesterday morning on Purtis Creek in the float tube. I was trying to get a half dozen or so good sunfish for supper. Problem was the sunfish didn't cooperate but these things were:

Like the old saying: When in Rome do as the Romans do." So I switched targets and ended up with about 6 of these and lost a couple more. Purtis creek is a catch and release on bass so they all went back in the water. Not the way i intended for the day to go, but still a good day on the water.

How is the water clarity? Also are there a lot of reeds around the lake now ? Haven't been there in a while but it was a mud hole when I was there. That would be great if it starts to clear up.

It looks like they purposefully keep the lake about 5 feet lower than it should; maybe it's for safety--there are lots of hard stumps. But, with the lake at the level they seem to keep it, all the reeds and other vegetation around the perimeter are in only 6-10 inches of water. Lots of grass carp still thriving there also. Could easily be a great lake again, but the carp just need to go away, no more spraying, and then let the water level come up a bit.

That fish looks skinny, maybe it's just the pic angle.

What a shame what the state did to ruin Purtis Creek, it's like they wanted to harm the lake..
