So one trip out and I messed up my transducer on my Onix. It's currently mounted under the jackplate and I guess I pinched the cable and water got in. The Onix worked fine and I shut it off while fishing for crappie. Turned it off and on about 3 times to check the bait situation and all the sudden the di, 2d and si or depth doesn't work. When I stored the boat I was checking the cable and while squeezing it with my fingers I noticed a little bit of water come out a really small crack in the cable. So now I have to replace the whole thing. I saw a transducer saver that I can mount on the side of the jackplate, are those worth it? Here is a pic how it sits currently. Any advice is appreciated. Anyone know someone who can do this near Laredo Tx?

I don't use one but I have heard plenty of people recommend them. I'm mounted to the transom but much higher up than yours. The pic looks like it is just waiting for a stump to take it off.

Th transducer savers work great. If you do go with the Jack plate mount you will also need a separate 2d transducer to get depth reading while on plane.
