Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Michael Macosko from Pittsburgh along with his daughter, Megan Evorik and her husband, Bob, from Hollywood, FL chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing. Michael is an avid fisherman for the past 40 years, and his daughter has been fishing with her Dad for as long as she can remember. As Michael and his family boarded the boat, they were greeted by the Topshotfishing team. When asked what they were hoping to catch, Michael remarked that they would like fresh fish for dinner.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. If you venture out another ¼ of a mile, you will find yourself in 500 ft. of water due to our extreme drop off located very close to Fort Lauderdale, FL in Broward County. We started off trolling with two #8 plainers down, one with a blue and white sea witch and the other with a pink and blue sea witch – both had double hooked Bonito strips behind them. For surface baits we had three Ballyhoos and a daisy chain teaser.

As we trolled the reefs zig-zagging from 80 ft. out to 200 ft. of water, the three anglers took turns reeling in fish – All of a sudden fish on the right rigger!!! – a swing and a miss!!! He is back again!!! The black shadow had his bill out of the water and was now hooked up. Michael jumped into the fighting chair to do battle with the Atlantic Sailfish. After a 25 minute battle, our mate, Dave, grabbed a hold of the leader as pictures were taken and Sailfish was released. The action continued and time was coming to an end. As Dave was bringing in the lines, another black shadow made his appearance. Sailfish on the right short rigger!!!! Hooked up!!!! Megan was our angler now – after a twenty minute battle, Megan brought the Sailfish to the side of the boat – pictures were taken and the Sailfish was released.

With a total of 15 Kingfish, 3 Barracudas, 3 Mahi Mahi, 2 Tunas and a father and daughter Sailfish catch, it was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. At the dock, Dave filet out their catch for the night’s dinner.
