Bought new transducer. didnt fix it, so its the head unit. Lowrance says they will sell me a head unit for , I think they said 250. But what I think I'm gonna do is keep the lowrance and set it to just sonar on the screen. Buy a hexix 7 s/i and mount beside it and set it to just si. Helix will have depth reading and I'll have a 7 inch screen on each one which will be bigger than a 12 inch screen in split screen mode. Does this sound logical?
I cant go bigger than a helix 7 because I dont have room to mount it without doing some crazy stuff.

Can you link the Lowrance with the new head unit? If so, it might make more sense buying that and share the transducer. One larger screen is better than 2 smaller screens but if you don't have room then that point doesn't matter. I'd be concerned about whether you will get interference from the different transducers.

How do you have room for a Helix 7 and a Lowrance side by side but not for a larger screen? At any rate, I would be worried that cross talk between the two would be a problem.

If I leave the lowrance in place, there is enough room for a helix 7 to mount be side it but not enough for anything larger without cutting holes and moving stuff and I dont want to do that. I am concerned about interference. The boat mechanic said it would be ok, but I'm still concerned. If there was interference the lowrance would have to go. Talked to lowrance today and a new head is 225. New helix 7 si is 554.00

Lowrance and Humminbird use the same frequencies for 2D sonar and imaging.
50 kHz, 83 kHz, 200 kHz, 455 kHz and 800 kHz.
Any two units using the same frequencies at the same time will cross talk when their sonar pulses overlap.
Well part of that has just changed, Humminbird will have 1200 kHz Imaging single frequency and CHIRP.

Did you check the settings on the Lowrance and see if it was on "advanced". If so, take it off. As stated earlier, I've seen this setting mess with the digital readouts. John

i didnt because i never change the settings but i'm going to that too. . also will do the reset
just wondering, if the lowrance was set to only sonar and a helix beside it was set only to S/I, you you still get crosstalk, since they are on different frequencies?

Wayne will have to answer this to be sure, but I think I recall reading that the helix shoots out sonar & SI frequencies at the same time. If I am correct then you'd have to run your lowrance on 83 and to be honest, 83 kind of sucks.

well i'm replacing the lowrance with a helix 7 si. head may be good, may be bad, I dont know. Tired of fooling with it and I think I got a fair deal, 609.00 with ext warranty, no tax,no shipping. Now I have to learn how to use it

From what I've seen of the Lowrance, you'll pick up the HB pretty quick.
