Rob and I decided to just hit the island on this trip and see if we could scare up some stripes. Well we must have been holding our mouth just right, we caught more stripers than we did any other species. Started out on the South side and first stop we were bringing in good sized sandies. Stayed there for about 30min then Rob noticed a single bird diving just North of us. We hated to leave biting fish but we saw too many big splashes not to. Moved over there and immediately hooked up with sandies and stripers. So now the day is already a success and we had no idea how good it was going to get. I think we hit one more spot on the South side then decided to go around the island to the North side. First stop, sandies and stripes (we were rigged with smaller sb slabs), second stop the same. Then we hit the third spot North West of the main island and things got very good and a little weird. I will explain the weird part first. We were slabbing in 25 fow and caught 11 LMB. The very good part - we upped the size of our slabs and started catching striper after striper to 28" for an hour (no sandies, all stripes). Caught over 40 very nice stripers on slabs in 25 fow. The wind changed direction several times then it was no wind and very glassy, the fish stopped biting and we went home with some great memories. All fished released.

Steve it sounds like y'all had a epic trip. Congratulations!! Never been to Whitney, it's not that far of a drive. Sounds like a good road trip.
