Anyone use straight braid when using jigs?

Yep, all the time. I prefer it. I often fish with guys that say that I'll get less bites fishing that way, but then I outfish them and they shut up.

I use strait braid when I'm in or around grass of any sort. I think the braid blends in with the strains of grass.

I fish straight braid most of the time I have around vegetation. Will tie on a leader in clearer water though. Not sure if it makes a real difference but it makes me feel more confident.

I prefer braid to be spooled up on most of my set-ups. I dont mind attatching a fluro/mono leader if it is needed. In the end, as long as it gets the fish in the boat, thats what matters.

My only hold back with braid on any bait is the wind. Heavy bushes mean pitching with accuracy. Wind blowing the braid across a limb doesn't work. I want that line to lay down on the water fast. This becomes even a more problem with those of us that fish heavy shallow cover on a slack line. I make those fast two strips of the line off the reel so the bait falls straight down beside or into the bush, then take up the slack and feel for pressure. Braid just floats around too much in the wind to do this. More open water applications makes it a great tool for me and I tie direct. My alternative to this in heavy cover is 25# XPS Floro.

Braid in grass or pitching shallow cover in those situations the jig bite is more a a reaction bite and line does not matter. When dragging the jig or fishing slower in cold water I like 20lb seguar floro.

I too have used braid at times with jigs "BUT" only when I expect to be fishing really thick stuff. My only draw back to fishing it all the time is the color. The dye fades off so quickly on some brands that I find myself throwing away good money. Yes you can use a marker and re-color it but it too only last a few casts. I've even tried dyeing it myself but it doesn't work well either. Depending on water clarity I believe I loose bites with new or old braided line.
