Just wondering if anyone had some input on this lake? I was out there today and tossed everything at them I had(Jigs, Frogs, Buzz baits, flukes, worms) mostly a weightless senko. I focused on the trees in the middle of the lake most of the day with no luck. I talked to a few older gentleman out there fishing and they did say it had been tough this year compared to others after after the drought. Heading back in the early morning to hit the pads with a frog and buzz bait.

punching is the way to go on this lake right now ---

also take your weedeater with you --when this lake has even the slightest north wind the floating vegetation will swallow the boat ramp !

i was there two weekends ago almost didnt get my boat back on the trailer ---and it looked like swamp thing when i pulled it outta the water ------had to jack my boat up off the trailer when i got home to clean all the [censored] off

june bug wacky senkos can work -- pull out a punching rig with rage craw !

sheldon has been a very tough lake for me,but there are some very big bass in there,I think fishing from a bass boat is a disadvantage there though, kayak guys catch em good

Man I went back out today and punched for over an hour with no luck. Was on the lake for another 6 hrs with 3 little fished all about 2 pounds(Nothing on the punch just wacky rig senkos).. Still beats a day at work but still looking for that monster.

Thats about like all my trips have been like out there this summer,I go fish all day for a few dinks then my buddy next day go out in his kayak and catch 15 up to 8 pounds, drives me crazy but I seriously believe its the trolling motor and sonar that make them hard to catch.

Ya man I have no idea. I think I will hold off going back till the Lilly pads are gone. An old man told me around March and April it's a whole new lake.
Time will tell.

that is a true statement
this time of the year you loose over half of the fishable water to the vegetation

the good thing about is its close and free ! if the bite is slow i dont feel obligated to stay

We fished in the spring some but not a good year for us overall. Low water levels hurt it too. Kevine is right about that N wind, it turned us back last time we went in like June or something, did not even try, grass field about 150 yds out, did not want to clog screens and burn it up. Couple of years ago, right when pads starting coming up we killed them all over on square bills, then that bite died.

I wish they would dredge and start over, but it would take years to build it back and they would loose all the brood fish. The whole thing is 6-7 ft deep for the most part and too much of the cover is all the same, nothing different just cypress tree bases and clumps of trees, hardly anything isolated or special if you will.

I saw 31lbs out of there, I know they are there, this was about 5 years ago.

It's not the same it was before the drought. Before the drought I had a 45+ pound bag out there and numerous 30+. I've personaly landed or been in the boat with a buddy that landed 8 fish over 10 in a 3 year span. If we went a trip and didn't get a 7 or bigger it was a bust of a trip. Now it's hard hard to get a fish that size.

I had a couple of 9's same day back to back years ago, and have not had one over 5 in couple of years there. Has to be good crappie population there, but I have not got into any good #;s when we targeted them with minnows.
