Hi guys!
I fished Ray Roberts Monday and thought I would give a little report. Seeing as I'm not really a bass fisherman per say, this is just an excuse to post some photographs I shot and the "information" I give is probably useless, but here it is anyway. I started off fishing Johnson Branch, hitting the rocky shorelines that the wind was blowing into, with a green/white clouser. I hooked one fish that felt pretty good but lost him before I got a look. I hooked a solid two pound spotted bass that jumped and spit the hook and I had several bumps that I suspect were dinks and/ or bluegills.
I ran to Chaparral cove and fished the points on the outside but the wind was out of the wrong direction. Did get a strike but didn't hook him.
Next, I fished around the mouth of Indian Creek, trying to fish any rocks I could find with the wind blowing into them. I lost another fish that felt good and had a couple of dinks chase the fly to the boat before I finally landed a largemouth. I fished a popper some but only got hit by bluegills ( too small to fish for or I would have switched to a smaller popper). Didn't see any birds working and not much baitfish. Rode around for a while looking for surfacing sand bass - nothing.
I've been working on a "fall fishing compilation" video and I did get some clips to add. The only problem is, I've got some good shots of birds, deer, wild pigs, leaves turning and ducks, but not much in the way of fish...
Anyway here are some shots I took while pretending to be a bass fisherman.

Excellent report and photographs thumb

BTW, the rule we live by down here is if you catch a fish and lose it before you can see it then it only counts as a snagged buffalo roflmao roflmao

Nice pics! You are a bass fisherman, don't believe me, go hang out in the OT for awhile, you will be convinced!

Nice! Those bass are really on right at dark. Think I told you we caught two smallmouth the other evening - yearlings. So that means they are established in Ray Roberts now - a place TPWD biologists said they would NOT be viable.

Thank you for the replies gentlemen!

FishyB - This is a bigger version of those little green torpedoes we see darting over the flats.

J-Moe - For all I know it was a snagged buffalo...

texasflycaster - I hope the smallmouths do well, those things are to beat on a fly rod. And, its been my experience that they seem to love poppers.
