I put out 4 crappie condos this weekend. Just starting to fish for crappie more so I'm not sure if it's a good time to put them out or not. I put them on the edge of a creek. How long should it take for some fish to show up on them?

I have caught crappie next day on brush piles and pvc condos. I don't buy the idea that they have to get " gunked up " to hold fish. IMHO ( I am no expert ) , they are there for the cover and shade , not to feed. Good luck

Brush with green leaves seems to draw the fish the fastest, but are less durable than ones made from heavier limbs.

There's lakes I could sink an old toilet in and pull a limit out from under the lid the next day and lakes I can sink 40 brushpiles in and be lucky that 4 of em ever hold a fish!! Drop a jig and see what you got! Only way i know how to find out!!

If it is placed in the right spot it will only take a couple of hours to hold fish. I have sunk a pile in the morning and came back a couple of hours later and caught several nice fish off of it.

I'm gonna try them out this weekend. Hopefully they'll have some fish on them. The lake I put them in is about 200 acres and is a pretty shallow lake. I've caught some pretty good crappie in it before while bass fishing. The deepest water is about 11-12 ft. I put them on the edge of a channel that falls from 6 down to about 10 ft. I made them out of PVC. I've heard good and bad things about how well they will hold fish. The lake has quite a bit pads and vegetation but nothing out in the deeper water. Was gonna post a pic of the condos but not sure how to do it.

From what I have seen, PVC doesn't hold crappie as consistently as natural brush does. It definitely will at times but day in and day out brush will hold more for longer. Now they should be all over you condo since the lake your at doesn't have much cover they really have no other options out in the deeper water.
