I am looking for a new kayak but am having a hard time deciding. I fish mainly ponds and lakes. I really like the idea of the diablo kayaks but am unsure how it would handle the lake. Please share your wisdom.

The Diablo does well on a lake unless there's a lot of chop.

I had a Cuda 12 for a few years. Great boat, but I wanted something with a more open deck. Went with a Nucanoe Pursuit, and couldn't be happier. Stable enough for me to stand and fly cast, gear tracks from bow to stern, tracks well, and can hold a 45 qt Yeti all my gear for those multi day trips!

I rented one and really liked it but it doesn't do well on wide open water when it's windy in my opinion.

I'm a fan of the amigo. Had it for a year and love it. I don't fish in the middle of the lake, so I don't have to worry about wind. Very stable and a high carrying capacity. I use it for duck hunting half of the year. Never been in a jackson cuda 12

I have a Diablo Adios. Best yak I've ever owned. EASY to stand in. Not really any slower than my Ride 135 I used to have.

I can not vouch for any Jackson, but I have an Amigo and could not be happier. I have paddled across some pretty good chop and it is not too bad. It will not set any water body speed records, but I would trade speed for stability almost any day of the week. It has a super open deck and you can stand without using a pull-up rope. The thing is crazy stable, no frills, fishing machine. If something happened to mine and I was in the market, I would buy the same boat all over again.

I have an Amigo and a Coosa. Based on my experience in a buddy's Cuda 12, the only difference between the Cuda and Coosa is that the Cuda tracks a little better/is a little faster and has the center storage. Not a huge difference between the two Jacksons. That being said, I feel like I can make a fair comparison between the Amigo and Cuda 12.

The Amigo is my go-to for day trips. It's much more stable than the Coosa, but neither of them are going to set any speed records. The only time I load up the Coosa instead of the Amigo is when it's an overnight trip. I've never even bothered trying to put anything in the hull of the Amigo, but I'm fairly confident I could get a sandwich and two or three soda cans to fit in there. I'm not a fan of having to strap a few stuffed dry bags to the deck of the Amigo. The Amigo is essentially a barge. I like the open deck, so having to use the deck for storage cramps my style.

The Coosa, however, was perfect for a four day river trip. I was able to fit my sleeping bag, tent, four days worth of food, four days worth of bee...soda, etc. in the hull. All I had on the deck was my crate and a small dry bag for stuff that I needed throughout the day.

Short story long--the Amigo is much more stable, but you can't hide any bodies in the trunk.

I really appreciate the help! I think I am going with the Amigo. Style, price, and stability win it for me. I rarely find myself taking overnight trips, and it is a necessity that I be able to stand and fish.
