With a Good Punch Bait all you Need is a #4 or #2 Treble Hook.
You Generally use Holder's for Dip Bait.

I have used CJs with great success. I reckon it is a good readily available bait you can get at academy. As for the best I have no idea.

Hard too say what's best, Team Catfish is a Good, Sure Shot is a Good and CJ's is also a Good.

Waterproofing, fiber that holds the bait but does not build up on hook and finally a bait that stays together in the heat...

Find a bait that does this well and u have found a dang good punch bait.

The pawn shop on 155 by Lake Palestine has a great punch bait. It is made with cheese and crickets. It is called Porters punch bait. The name of the store is Porters. Stays on the hook and does real well catching fish if you are a punch bait person

I agree with Salsa. A good punch that takes the Texas heat. I use #4 treble hooks. Usually VMC's or Eagle Claws Lazer Sharps. Get the sharps hook available. A good punchbait should have ingredients in it that will make it stay on the hook. Punch baits I use CJ's Shad and Stubby's. To me, Stubby's is more of a dough type bait, it's a good clean bait that works. Now dip baits, I use Doc's blood, the sticky one. I use a treble hook and sponge with a dip worm. The dip bait will stick and even fill in the tube of the worm. For all these baits, a good sharp treble hook works great.
