I just bought a boat and have a Lowrance hook5x chirp and elite 3x on the boat. What's the deal with the fish finders showing trees and stuff when I have the fish finders on fish locator? In the book it also say the same dang thing. Hell what's the use of having the things if fish is not fish on the finders? Anyone care to share a little of their expert advice on this. Thanks mad

You have lost me....

So you are on the water and you have your electronics on looking for fish and trees appear?

did you select the trees/ and fish option, or just the trees option in the menu?

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

No.When the fish finder setting is on fish id. The book also say that Fish ID is not the most accurate method of fish detection as it can display structure and suspended debris as fish symbols on the display. We were in back of creek and so on and it was showing fish all over and there was no fish. Check the manual later to find this out. This is what I was trying to say.

Yep. Fish ID is not foolproof. My daughter used to love it, because she thought fish were everywhere.

Keep fish I.D. Turned off and look for the fish in the structure that appears. It is the best method in finding fish.

sometimes you can see schools of 'fish' and they won't bite, we've all had that to happen.
also fishfinders will pick up big balls if bait fish the the fish ID will sometimes get confused and ID as larger fish.
Fish ID's are shown when the fishfinder shows what it thinks is a fish,..not everything it ID's is a fish, IE debris,bubbles,etc..
several youtube videos will help you set-up and use your fish finders. There's also a fishfinder section on this forum that people
use to show fishfinder pictures with explanations of what they are seeing. Check you area for local guides, ask them if they will
help you look at your fishfinder,..you may find one that will do just that...
