With all the lakes returning to full (or flooded....depending on time of year), I'd say a flipping jig and a t rigged plastic.
These two, by far, have produced one of the best years of fishing I have ever had. I beat my personal best 12lb 6 oz twice this year (bumped it to 13.2 a week ago)and caught 4 DD bass and dozens in the 6-10 pound range. Literally have caught thousands of bass this year....and it ain't over yet.
The Whopper Plopper was "the lure" last year. At least for me. I still have one that Ish Monroe made personally for Josh Bertrand. Bertrand gave it to me to use when I was fishing with him on Rock. I caught "a-fish" with it. The thing is a chunk and useless as far as I am concerned.

Dunno if it represents 2016 but I think the Jackall Pompadou is pretty unique. I haven't fished it but I'd put it on my desk and admire it lol.

I buy my son lures for his birthday each year.
Need 2 lures that represent 2016
I figure one is the Whopper Plopper.....what else? New this year or made a splash this year.
One that always makes a good splash is a Yellow Magic +1. Look for them on Ebay. They are fantastic but are no longer in production. It will splash water and walk the dog at the same time.
