Hi guys. Still getting my 1st boat ready to roll (14' Aluminum). I have never had a sonar/fish finder and am thinking of getting one of the small hand held units.
Question: Do you "drop" the transducer in the water when needed, or install on the transom? If transom, how deep?
Thanks again for answering my questions.

I have an old eagle fish id ii you can have and put on your boat. I'm just around the corner too. Free. You can install it until you put a nicer one on. Learn how to wire and hook up.

I want to publicly thank TerribleTwos for giving me his Fish ID unit. He was a pleasure to interact with and I think I may have found a sometime fishing buddy.
Thanks Steve!
