These fish and many more were caught trolling. It has produced summer after summer for me and my friends. Deep diver and a grub about 18in. above and maybe another at 18in. above that. We troll mostly humps, points and their dropoffs. Ideally you want fish to bite a slab or tail spinner but during summer months you can cast til your arm falls off and only catch a few. More times than not if you have a grub go by them at 3.5-4mph you will get hooked up. This past summer and fall included we've caught fish as deep as 19ft. and as shallow as 6ft. I take some old timers and newbies fishing on a weekly basis and is easier to troll than anything else.

OK, let me get this straight. You have a deep diver like a DD22 and 18 inches above that is a grub and 18 above another one?

I think it used to be called a hell-pet rig back when the hell bender was THE deep diving king.

"Slow ahead." I can go slow ahead. Come on down here and chum some of this [censored].

Hey frank... Use the hellbender as the diver. Search in this section for the rigging. You can use plastics, small spinners or the pet spoon at the business end. We troll just fast enough to keep your line tight... Just trying to help you in your quest...
We don't use anything above the hellbender

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Yes. I use the Academy brand, usually 3.99 sometimes on sale for 2.99.
There's more than One way to catch fish, for me during the summer this has been the most effective.
